MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

Freda Lucas

PNC Bank

For Women’s History Month, we’re proud to spotlight board member Freda Lucas, PNC vice president, and senior branch manager of the Lake Worth branch. A Floridian through and through, she has been a leader in retail banking and a staunch supporter of women in business and diversity and inclusion for 16 years.

As a Branch Manager, Lucas plays an important role in coaching and developing her team and providing knowledge and insight on financial growth opportunities for her consumer and business clients.

PNC is committed to helping build and maintain Palm Beach County’s diverse and vibrant economy,” Lucas said. “PNC does this by doing its part to drive meaningful change in the community through the leveraging of its resources to move everyone forward financially.”

Lucas points to several bank initiatives that reflect PNC’s position, including its 2020  $30 million charitable commitment to coronavirus relief across the bank’s footprint. In 2021, the bank announced a commitment of an $88 billion Community Benefits Plan inclusive of its more than $1 billion commitment to help end systemic racism and support the economic empowerment of African Americans and low- and moderate-income communities. Lucas said these are the initiatives that make her most proud to be a PNC team member.

She credits the Black Chamber board of directors for the work it does with and in the community, specifically for its networking power and giving her exposure to the needs of the community that she loves so much.

When asked what inspires her to make a difference, Lucas points to a quote from former President Barack Obama, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time, we are the one’s we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”
